I was craving King Crab again even after we demolished a 9-pound crab at home last week. The family decided to go to Golden Lake Seafood Restaurant in Burnaby on Friday and we decided it was a good place as any to eat some King Crab!

At $16.80 per pound it's definitely not a cheap dish. There are probably places that sell it for cheaper but I had an itch and was going to scratch it.

Here's the beast. Approximately 9 pounds of deliciousness!

This place served it as four dishes. Usually restaurants either cook the legs either in either one or two different ways. Here they only cooked in one style which is my preferred one so I'm not complaining!

The legs: this is the best dish of them all. So sweet and delicious.

Body: slightly spicy

Shell: Rice topped with curry

Noodles cooked in the juices from legs. Mmmmm.
Mmmm. Until next year.

Schmidt (Jonah Hill) and Jenko (Channing Tatum) are two opposites in high school - the geek and the jock. They run into each other again when they both enroll into Police Acedemy and end up being best friends when they find they can help each other acheive their goals. But instead of the car chases and explosions they were envisioning after graduation, they are assigned to park patrol. When they finally arrest their first perpetrator, he was let go because Jenko didn't read him his rights. The pair are reassigned to 21 Jump Street, a police undercover unit whose officers are chosen because they look young enough to pass as high school students. Schmidt and Jenko are given the job of finding the dealers and suppliers of a drug dealing ring at the local high school. But even then they mess up and end up with each other's undercover identity. Schmidt ends up hanging with the cool kids and Jenko with the science geeks. Schmidt and Jenko's friendship may be put to the ultimate test as the same issues that plagued them in high school come back to haunt them.

The movie was hilarious and there were many laugh out loud moments. It wasn`t afraid to poke fun at itself, knowing that this is a based on the late 80s TV show of the same name. In fact, you might even see some familiar faces. ;) For those who are sensitive, there is some violence and some people do die, there is a lot of teen drug use and drinking and swearing. But I digress, if you are looking for a good laugh, this is the movie to see. This was another one of those movies that was way better than I imagined. Oh, and there are explosions and car chases.

21 Jump Street opens in theatres Friday, March 16, 2012. Go see it!

Went out for Thai food before the Trews concert. Simply Thai is located on Hamilton Street in Yaletown.

It is a nice small restaurant, simply decorated. Love the artwork on the wall!

Kao Pad - $15
We decided to order a rice and noodle dish. Kao Pad is fried rice with shrimp, onions, tomatoes, green beans & egg. Ordered it mild but I thought it still had a lot of pepper in it. It was pretty good though!

Pad Thai (The Real Way) - $15
Pad Thai was a little wet. I don't eat Thai food a lot so I'm not sure if Pad Thai is suppose to be this way. Still it was delicious!

The "Pear"
Finally the dessert. I looked at the dessert menu before we ordered and I already knew what I wanted to get. The "Pear" is hazelnut ice cream dipped in chocolate, shaped in a pear, with whipped cream on the side. It was to die for! Omgosh I could have eaten another... P=

Raspberry and Chocolate Mousse
K ordered the Raspberry Chocolate Mousse. I didn't try it but she thought it was a bit old? Still tasty but the middle was frozen.

Coconut Ice Cream
And a scoop of coconut ice cream. This was so good too. I love coconut ice cream or gelato. When I was in Italy, I ate coconut geleto the most. But if you order this and the Pear too, eat the Pear first. The coconut ice cream is a lot sweeter than the Pear. Nothing wrong with that. I could use another scoop right now too. =)

All in all, it was a very filling meal. We weren't even able to finish the two dishes. (There's always room for dessert) I should eat Thai more often!

Loosely based in Dr. Seuss' 1971 children's book of the same name, the movie takes place in Thneedville, a city that made of plastic with no living plants in it all. We follow 12-year-old boy Ted (Zac Efron) in his quest to impress the girl he has a crush on, Audrey (Taylor Swift), who dreams of seeing a real live tree. His grandma Norma (Betty White) tells Ted to seek out the Once-ler (Ed Helms) who knows about what happened to all the the trees. Ted manages to sneak out of the city and find the Once-ler who tells him the story of the Lorax and the disappearance of the Truffula trees due to corruption and greed. Now it might be up to Ted to bring back the trees and show people to care again but Mr O'Hare (Rob Riggle), the most powerful man in the Thneedville (and who looks an awful lot like Enda from the Incredibles) will do anything to stop Ted from ruining his plastic paradise.

The Lorax is cute movie with a good message in how one person can make a difference and how we should care about the environment. I really liked how people just spontaneously burst into catchy songs. The Once-ler's solo also reminded some people of the lead singer from Marianas Trench. lol

The animators did a great job bringing the world of the Lorax to life. I loved how the Truffula trees, Bar-ba-loots, Swomee-Swans and Humming-Fish were animated. The trees look so fluffy and soft and the Bar-ba-loots are insanely cute! I'm not sure about the Lorax though. I kind of completely missed his purpose. He was a little annoying and I didn't like the jokes he made. Still the movie was great and the children in the audience liked it.

The Lorax is in theatres today, on Dr. Seuss' birthday! Go bring the family and see it!

"Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not." - Dr. Seuss

SOCIETY Dining Lounge is launching a new promo and it is called Movie Night at SOCIETY. I was lucky enough to win a contest hosted by @Glowbal_Group on Twitter to attend this special preview event.

Movie night takes place in the lounge area upstairs where everyone can enjoy the movie while snacking on complimentary popcorn. I sat in the back but was still able to see the movie clearly. They showed Crazy, Stupid, Love and even though I've seen it before it was still hilarious the second time round.

The chef also prepared a special movie night menu which includes $5 Buffalo Chicken Wings and Popcorn Shrimp and $8 Pastas and Pizzas. I got to try out some of these foods and they are so delicious! We were also given a complementary popcorn box full of candy!

Wild Mushroom Pizza was sooo good.

Drinks were served too, my favourite being the boozy oreo milkshake! Mmmmm.

Boozy Oreo Milkshake
There were also a lot of cotton candy floating around! =D

Movie Night at SOCIETY occurs on the first Wednesday night of every month starting on March 7th with a showing of Bridesmaids. I think it is a great idea and SOCIETY is such a fun place to be at with awesome food and drinks! Thank you to Glowbal for inviting me!

And if you didn't know, Glowbal is started a passport program where if you dine all their restaurant chains, you will get entered into a draw for some amazing prizes! Plus once you get one stamp, you will receive 10% off your next meals! For more information visit their website.

Disclosure: I won tickets to this event from a contest held by Glowbal Group. I was not expected to write anything in return and all opinions expressed are honest and of my own.

On Sunday, I went snowshoeing with my friends at Mt Seymour. It was the first time I've ever done it and I think it may be the first time I've ever been up there too. The snow came suddenly as we were driving up. The roads weren't even salted by then. Good thing we had snow tires! There was a car in front of us who was skidding. There were a lot of people there since there was a competition going on. We stayed to watch some of it after spending about 3 hours on the trails. The snow is so beautiful and refreshing!

CB2 is a highly successful offshoot of Crate and Barrel and has opened its second store in Canada right here in Vancouver. Affordable modern furniture for the apartment, loft and home is their specialty.

These bird tea candle holders were my fave!

I was at the VIP opening last night to take a peek at what they had in store. DJ She was on site pumping out amazing tunes as people mingled and shopped.

CB2 had pulled out all the stops and had The Dirty Apron, La Brasserie and Re-up BBQ serving delicious appies and there was also an open bar!

I really love their chic furniture pieces. They had a lot of funky decor. It kind of reminds me of a IKEA store but with personality! I would love to get some pieces from there when I purchase my own place.

CB2 is officially holding their grand opening today! They are located at 1277 Robson Street, Vancouver. Go check them out!
