Last Saturday, K and I stumbled upon this LEGO building event at Lansdown Centre in Richmond. Lego Wizard Robin Sather, was building a LEGO set that revolves around a story about a lonely dragon with hayfever. Kids can also build a mini DUPLO kit to take home (while quantities last) and enter to win a Toys 'R' Us gift certificate.

It's always cool to see people building large structures with LEGO! They will be building again this Saturday, July 19th and also July 26th. Check it out while you can!

A party was held down at Sunset Beach last Friday with food trucks, roller skating and free food!

nTrust demonstrated the ease of use of their cloud money website by giving each party goer who signed up for an account, a $5 voucher for any food on a predetermined menu.

Curious to how it works? There's no app to download. Just visit their website nTrust.com - it is mobile enabled - and sign up for an account. The special event Sunset Beach Social shows up when you log in. Clicking on the button brings you to a page their you can enter the promo code they give you.

After you click redeem, $5 is loaded into your account. All we had to do then is visit the food truck we wanted and order the item they were offering on the menu, and click on their company's icon and the $5 will be transferred instantly to the owner of the food truck.

This wasn't the first time nTrust held this social. The first one was last month but it had started out raining a bit. This time, it was very sunny and crowds of people showed up, and it got even busier as time when on.

I chose to try the Feastro, the Rolling Bistro's original Dirty Fries.

I just beat the long lineup that formed afterwards.

Dirty fries is a deliciously impressive dish. It's fries piled high with pulled pork, BBQ sauce, lemon garlic aioli, salsa and jalapenos. Yummy!

People were also having a good time playing ping pong and roller skating.

Oikos set up and gave out free Greek yogurt for a smile!

Other vendors were also set up setting their wares.

All in all, everyone was having a great time, enjoying the sun and food. Thanks nTrust!

If you missed the last two, don't worry nTrust is doing the Sunset Beach Social one last time on Friday, August 15th, 5pm to sunset!

Joe Fortes' NEW Happy Hour menu launches today!

For those that don't know Joe Fortes has happy hour 4pm - 6pm EVERYDAY, which is awesome for those who can't make it to downtown in time on the weekdays.

They have buck a shuck oysters (usually a local beach oyster like those in the photo above), and the bar menu is offered at a discounted price. They also serve $5 Molson Pints, $5 Red/White Wine (Peller Estates Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc) and $5 Highballs.

Here's the new menu:

You can also check out some of the photos of the foods offered at Joe Fortes on my recap of the recent Joe Fortes tweetup here.
Last Saturday, the Hawkers Market was held at its new location at MakerLabs in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. The organizers have made this event bigger and better with more vendors and food carts.

I arrived around 6:30 - 7pm and the place was hopping!

Line up of food trucks outside including the the new FarmCity Fresh Cart.

The MakerLabs is a lot bigger than the old place.

There's still a live DJ playing tunes while you shop and eat.

I was invited to the event by the FoodGays, who were debuting their new CRAQ cream puff creations. BUT ALAS! Turns out I came TOO LATE! CRAQ have been flying off the table and they have already sold out. So sad!

They had a couple of the cream puffs on display. That's all. Darn, I was hoping to try the Espresso Viennese CRAQ. Even sounded delicious!

Adrian and Jeremy, charming as always!

Oollo Teas and lots of other drinks such as Vitae Juice, Kombucha Tea, Dickie's Ginger Beer, 33 Acres Brewing Co. There were many dessert vendors as well - Mooos, Nice Pops, Happily Stuffed, Bumble & Oak, Sweet Petite to name a few.

For savoury options, besides the food trucks outside, you had wontons, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken waffles, and noodles to chose from. I would have liked to see more.

Wontons from Wonton Girl

Chicken Waffles by Oxtale.

Cookie Shots with Almond Milk at Nuez

If you are going to go to the Hawkers Market, make sure you purchase a ticket before hand on Eventbrite for $11.59. It costs $15 to enter at the door! Save that $5 for food!
