Victory Gardens hosts this 101 style lecture and demonstrative workshop geared towards getting you started this Spring. You’ll learn the basics of soil, compost, timing and planning, containers, sowing seeds and transplanting. Each participant will receive a pack of seeds and some notes on Spring Gardening Basics.

Roving Seed Sale

Victory Gardens is having another Roving Seed Sale this Saturday after our Spring Gardening Basics workshop.  Make sure to stop by and pick up some organic and heirloom seeds from Stellar Seeds and Westcoast Seeds just in time for planting your spring garden.

Easter Train at Stanley Park - $8.75/child

Stanley Park Miniature Train
 The Stanley Park Easter train runs rain or shine March 23 to April 1, 2013, 10:00am to 5:00pm.  Hop on by for a fun-filled day including a ride on the miniature train, egg hunts, crafts and a visit from the Easter Bunny.  The train runs rain or shine and is fully covered, protecting everyone onboard from spring showers.  Be sure to bring your own Easter basket for the egg hunt! $8.75/child (includes all activities) | Adults are free for activities, $3.50 to ride the train.

Madame Beespeaker's Licorice Mint Tea Party at Aberthau

Sample "Beespeaker Blend" herbal tea and enjoy afternoon tea at the beautiful Aberthau Mansion. Madame Beespeaker will read poetry about the traditional of "telling the bees." Take home anise hyssop seeds and learn why we need to grow this "honey wonder plant" to support Vancouver's bees. Join eco-artist Lori Weidenhammer appearing as Madame Beespeaker for the Licorice Mint Tea Party where she will be displaying sample projects from a series of workshops we are offering you at the West Point Grey Community Centre Thursdays from March 28 to May 9th.

Strathcona Unplugged - suggested donation $5

Strathcona Unplugged is a monthly fund raising event starting March 24th 2013 at the Patricia Hotel to benefit Ray Cam Community Centre and its range of Community Programs.
  This all ages event is sponsored by the Patricia Hotel and will take place on the Hotel’s main event room stage from 2 pm until 7 pm on the last Sunday of each month.  The event will be recorded and broadcasted live on the Ray Cam Community Radio website www.raycamcommunityradio.ca  The event will provide quality musical, spoken word, performance art and theatre entertainment for a suggested donation of $5.00 per person, children 12 and under are free.  In addition there will be a special food and beverage menu of which 50% of the proceeds will go to the benefit and a silent auction.
