The 22nd annual Celebration of Light kicked off last Saturday at English Bay. This time year there was a change is sponsorship so it is now the Honda Celebration of Light. Vietnam gave the first performance this year, starting off with a bang! Lots of colour and I loved the huge huge fireworks that went so high in the sky.

Their soundtrack changed many times going from Vietnam music to Sweet Emotion by Aerosmith to  Magnificent Seven to One Direction's What Makes You Beautiful. I loved it! The timing of their fireworks with the music was spot on.

I didn't have a tripod with me this year. I just got to English Bay five minutes before it started and I happened to have my camera with me. Haha. You can tell I was shaking! Most of the photos I took were with 2 sec exposure. I couldn't get any longer than that without going so very blurry. =)

















Next up will be Brazil on Wednesday, August 1st starting at 10pm. It should be another exciting show! See you there!

Team Canada finishes of the 2011 Celebration of Light with a fantastical show. I think they might win it this year. They had a lot of large fireworks that filled the entire sky and the colours were very beautiful.

I ended up in Kits Beach this time. I was aiming for Vanier Park but unfortunately we overshot our stop...by a lot and ended up at Jericho instead! So we had to run back to get closer.

Braved the crowds again and went to the fireworks with a bunch of friends and after bootcamp nevertheless! Today Spain gave us a competitive performance to rival China's show last Saturday. It was an awesome show but I preferred China's which I thought was much more colourful. Most of Spain's colours were red and gold. Spain had a lot more different types of fireworks though. There were some seizure inducing ones too. hahah. And a lot of wispy fireworks. Very pretty. I like the photo above the best because it reminds me of a peacock tail all fanned out.






I also want to rant about the people who kept crossing in front of my camera! Grrr! Especially these two girls who just stood there in front for the longest time obstructing my and my friend's (who was sitting on the ground) views. Geez once the show starts just stay put! So inconsiderate. So sorry part of my video is black because they were covering the camera completely.

China put on quite a beautiful show Saturday night at the Celebration of Light competition. I went with some of my friends to view the fireworks at English Bay. We were slightly off to the side of the barges (I think there were three this year instead of just two). It wasn't as crowded as I imagined; probably due to the long weekend and the forecast for rain. So we had a lovely unobstructed view for the most part. I love the purple coloured fireworks the best.

I tried to take some decent photos but I never know when to start taking the photo! Perhaps on Wednesday when Spain puts on their show I will be able to take better photos. I captured half the the show on video though so you can watch it if you missed it! Sadly it didn't occur to me to bring a radio so you just hear the explosions and people talking about F-stops. Oops.
