Yesterday was the annual plant sale at VanDusen Botanical Gardens and as usual, I couldn't resist taking a look at what was on sale. I had no specific plants I was looking for but I never seem to leave empty handed and this year was no exception. I even got more plants since I went with a friend! More hands! LOL
It was BUSY!

I spent a lot of time at the pot luck section where there were many different perennials divided by volunteers on sale. I bought a few Daylilies and a Geum plant from here. I also bought a clementis from the vine section. =D

I didn't have any more time to walk around the garden after looking at all the plants on sale. =(

Here's my haul. Heheh. I spent the rest of the day weeding my garden and planting them. And it's hard work! I should have prepared beforehand but I kind of neglected the garden and the weeds took over. Boo. But now it's cleared and I look forward to seeing the summer blooms from my new plants! =D

TELUS Garden held their Celebration Event yesterday to celebrate the selling out of all their suites earlier last month. It was hard to believe that this happened without even an aggressive marketing campaign - almost all the buzz was generated by word of mouth. I only heard about it through a friend who's a Telus employee and by that time, all the suites in my price range had already been sold! Yesterday they announced that they are releasing some previously unavailable suites for any buyers that missed their chance last time round but they are still out of my price range - the least expensive one is a 2 br + flex at around $700k. D= Still I took a look around to see what the future will be like on the corner of Richards and Georgia.

There was no demo suite or anything. The only thing viewable was the kitchen and the bathroom, the finally released colour scheme and the door, which is wider and heavier than normal doors and is going to be the signature of every Westbank development from now on. Everything else was on a touch screen TV for guests to browse through. Man, the views are amazing.

Guests were invited to munch on delectable bistro creations catered by Giovane Cafe and enjoy drinks, coffee and desserts on the house while an in-house DJ spun rad tunes and Underground Circus delighted the crowd doing acrobatic feats overhead.

I was fascinated by the model of the condo and the amount of detail that the designers put into it. All the little people are going about their lives around the TELUS Garden model each telling a story of friendship, family, business, and fun in the soon-to-be-real community. I'm a little envious.

Caché Bistro & Lounge had their official grand opening last Thursday. I've seen friends sharing photos of the delicious foods online and I've been interested in trying it out myself so when I heard that they were throwing this event, I immediately signed up.

The restaurant has been open a few months prior to this and friends of Caché brought flowers to congratulate them in their success. This day was also a time to introduce their new Spring menu.

Caché is a French and Asian fusion restaurant headed by Chef Alex Mok who had been trained in French cooking techniques.

The French and Asian influence is evident in the decor.

They also had two beautiful large mirrors that really opens up the place.

The event had live music, drinks and samples from the menu were served to guests.

The kitchen staff was working in overdrive keeping up with the demand of the samples.

mushroom caps stuffed with spinach and cream cheese
Sticky rice duck confit and pulled pork mini-sandwiches
Escargot
I loved the food especially the mushroom caps. It is a stuffed portobello mushroom cap in the regular menu which I'm dying to try. And I will! I'm definitely going back to have a meal at Caché soon!

Edit: Check out my dinner at Caché! Mmm delicious!
