Slide-rule to Sci-Fi
Friday, 2pm - 10pm 
Cressey @ Meccanica - 102 East 1st Avenue, Vancouver
The Slide-rule to Sci-Fi is hosted by Farrell Segall, one of the founders of MakerMobile, a travelling classroom, hackspace, art studio and lab in Vancouver. The event at Meccanica will feature mostly working displays of numerous personal computing systems dating from the 1970's to current state-of-the-art virtual reality devices. This is a hands-on exhibit that even includes a scientific slide-rule, the type that was used on Apollo missions!

Diwali Fest
October 17th – October 26th
The 11th year of Diwali Fest will take place over 10 days from October 17th – October 26th, 2014. The events making up this year's festival will range in size, and spread through the cities of Vancouver and Surrey, making a larger impact than 2013. Diwali Fest is proud to present “Unity in Diversity” at the 2014 Diwali Fest Taking place from Friday, October 17 through to Sunday, October 26 at various venues throughout Vancouver and Surrey.

UBC Apple Festival - $4 (Children under 12 free)
Saturday & Sunday 11am-4pm 
UBC Botanical Garden, 6804 SW Marine Drive, Vancouver, BC
A family event for all ages, the UBC Apple Festival celebrates one of British Columbia's favourite fruits. From children learning about the diversity of apples to those who remember tasting heritage apples in their youth, the Apple Festival is a great opportunity to not only discover more about this delicious fruit, but have a whole lot of fun doing it! Tasting sessions from 11:00am to 3:30pm Saturday and Sunday Tickets $5.00 available outside the tasting tent.

South Vancouver Harvest Festival
Saturday, 3pm - 6pm
David Thompson Secondary School 1755 E 55th Ave Vancouver
Activities will start at the farm at 3pm and include a Fresh Roots veggie market, pumpkin carving, apple pressing, farm tours, and lantern making. You are also invited to share a bowl of hearty harvest stew and cast your vote in a multicultural dessert contest (or enter your own!), or simply bring a blanket and watch the action unfold.

Come out on Sunday, October 19 to meet Vancouver's inspiring future!The Young Innovators Crawl is your chance to meet creatives from the worlds of design, technology, sustainability, food, arts and culture, and social innovation. Bring your friends and family to explore the studios and open houses of an amazing line up of innovators. Enjoy lively conversation, food trucks, breweries, idea jams, demos, pop-up exhibits, performances and more. The Crawl kicks off at 12pm and goes until 5pm, and participating is free and open to everyone!

This market is the first of its kind in Vancouver bringing together the tastes of Italy with the produce grown in local farms.
