Bats are great to have around, want to know why? Join us in this fun workshop! Learn about bats, build a batbox, and find out what you can do to help these amazing animals.  This workshop is suitable for  anyone who loves bats! You can have your batbox installed by our bat experts in suitable habitat on the BC south coast, or take it home if you’ve got a good bat friendly spot.  This workshop is kid-friendly; children should be 5 or older and must be accompanied by an adult.

Experience food both local and international, celebrity chef demonstrations, cooking competitions, sausage making competitions, cheese and wine seminars, Bite of the Valley participating restaurants and the Grapes and Hops wine/beer/spirits tasting pavilion.

Artists for Conservation Festival - $31.95

 A 10-day art and environmental education happening, featuring the world-top conservation themed art exhibit and sale with leading nature and wildlife artists and naturalists. The opening gala for the fourth annual Artists for Conservation Festival will draw both art lovers and nature enthusiasts to Grouse Mountain.  This year’s festival focuses on bears. Tickets for the opening gala on Friday, September 26 and Wine & Cheese on Saturday, September 27 are available online. The festival opens to public at 10am on Saturday, September 27 and runs until Sunday, October 5 on Grouse Mountain. A special family weekend is planned for Saturday, October 4 through Sunday, October 5.

Vancouver International Photography Festival - $2 for two day pass

This is the 3rd Annual Vancouver International Photography Festival. The festival last year was a smashing success, we had over 1000 participants; this year we are expecting even more participants. The VIPF Society is hosting this year’s festival at the beautiful VanDusen Botanical Gardens, which is located in central Vancouver. The festival will take place on October 4th and 5th at the Visitor Centre Hall; the 2-day festival will include the opening and closing ceremony, seminars by professional photographers and many other events. On the last day of the festival, a camera swap meet will be held in the Floral Hall directly across from the main event gallery.

Vancouver Art/Book Fair 2014

Free and open to the public, VA/BF is the only international art book fair in Canada and one of only two on the West Coast. In 2014 the event is anticipated to attract over 1,500 visitors from across the Greater Vancouver Area and beyond.  Presented by Project Space, VA/BF is a two-day festival of artists’ publishing featuring nearly one hundred local, national and international publishers, as well as a diverse line-up of programs, performances and installations. Featured artists travel to Vancouver from across Canada and the globe, and produce everything from books, magazines, zines and printed ephemera to digital, performative or other experimental forms of publication.

Mark your calendars for October 4th as Alivia (@alittlebitofblush) and Jesse (@thewildtraveller) are hosting a phototwalk together as part of the upcoming #WWIM10! If you love gardens and nature as much as we do you won't want to miss out. We'll be meeting at Boulevard Coffee Roasters at UBC at 1pm before making our way over to Alivia's favourite hidden gem in Vancouver, Nitobe Memorial Garden, where everyone who attends will be provided complimentary admission courtesy of UBC Botanical Garden. After that we will be making pitstops at a couple of other scenic spots on campus before wandering down a forested trail behind the Museum of Anthropology to a quiet sandy beach. There will be prizes for best photo of Nitobe as well as a 'Shot of the Day' winner. Details will be provided at the event.
