Summer BBQ and closing for Warner Bros. Suite
6pm
FIELD Contemporary, 17 West Broadway, Vancouver, BC
FIELD Contemporary invites you to July 4, a Canadian celebration of America, summer bbq and closing for Thomas McDonell: Warner Bros. Suite.  As well, a celebration of Daniel’s birthday!  Warner Bros. Suite is the first exhibition in Canada by the American artist Thomas McDonell. A roll of linen, printed with the famous film studio's logo, was divided by the artist and transported through diverse environments wherein the pieces of fabric collected a variety of marks. These marks range from handmade scrawls to machined embroidery to evidence of weather and the passage of time. The pieces of fabric -- each stretched to a standard widescreen aspect ratio and assembled in the gallery in a long piecewise rectangle -- suggest a dramatic, non-linear narrative.  Please join us on July 4 in the gallery, and back alley, from 6pm till late. Food provided with drinks available for purchase.

In Latin American people enjoy gathering in the local “plaza” to soak up the daily happenings. We hope to recreate this experience in Vancouver. Some of the scheduled events include locally and nationally renowned Latin musical artists, folk dance troupes, a marketplace that displays the work of Latin American artisans and childrens' games. As soccer is an important activity in Latin America that brings communities together, a traditional multicultural street soccer tournament is another highlight of the Carnaval Del Sol.
