Salmon Celebration at Vancouver Farmers Market

On Saturday, June 28th, the farmers market at Trout Lake held a salmon celebration! It was the first time ever where we were able to pick up fresh sockeye salmon from the market.

A filleting demonstration was held at Skipper Otto's tent.

Skipper Otto Community Supported Fishery, as well as, Blue Comet Seafood and Fresh Off the Boat Ocean Foods were selling fresh Ocean-Wise fish at their tents.

 So red!

Feastro the Rolling Bistro and Creperie La Boheme were also serving special salmon features on their menu.

I had the BC Smoked salmon taco for $6.75 at Feastro the Rolling Bistro. They smoked the salmon on site! It had tomato chutney, cabbage, pesto aioli, avocado fresca and fresh lime. YUM!

I also ended up purchasing some salmon at Skipper Otto's. It was quite a bit pricier than what I'm use to at the supermarket but I can feel good knowing that I'm supporting my local fishermen and that this is Ocean Wise seafood.

Look how red it is! We just pan fried it with just a little bit of seasoning mix. Simple.

It was so delicious!

Visit the Trout Lake Farmers Market on Saturdays from 9:00am to 2:00pm until October 18th, 2014. Right now garlic is in season as well as peppers, eggplants, raspberries, strawberries and more!
