CircusFest

 CircusFest, a 4-day circus festival, is the first of its kind in Vancouver.  With a mission to engage, inspire and celebrate the Circus Community, CircusFest is poised to bring the best circus talent to the West Coast.  The festival features leading circus acts and performers, Main Stage shows, hands-on workshops, installations, cabarets, industry panel discussions, in a weekend of circus exploration and inspiration.

Meccanica by Cressey Development 102 East 1st Avenue (and Quebec), Vancouver
Public Dreams, Private Myths will present an array of dynamic paintings, drawings and sculpture, which touch on folk tales, creation myth, and personal family legends, to challenge the viewer and prompt the question: who are the gods and archetypes of our time? For this show, each member will create a small sculptural component in addition to their 2-dimensional pieces. Artists include: Michael Abraham, Paul Morstad Painting, Jonathan Sutton, Christian Nicolay, Jeremiah Birnbaum, and Jay Senetchko, with guest member Justin Ogilvie. This exhibition takes place under the umbrella of Meccanica Presentation Centre’s Revolving Door event series. Expect entertainemnt, food, drink and as always, fantastic paintings as well as sculpture.

Want to set up a winter garden? Find out where to start during our Drop-In Winter Garden Demo Day on Saturday November 8th 2014.  Held at the FoodGROWS warehouse & showroom in South Vancouver, the drop-in event will feature workshops and demos of living systems taught by horticulturists, engineers and passionate food growing hobbyists.  Demonstrations will include best winter gardening practices featuring our outdoor VegTrug Greenhouse as well as instruction on how to create a space efficient indoor garden for the colder months. We will explain the inner workings and science behind our in-house aquaponics, hydroponics and aeroponics systems and guests will be invited to taste samples of veggies grown in the different environments.

Night Markets:

MERCATO: Italian Night Market 
3pm - 7pm every 3rd Friday of the month until until Friday, November 21st, 2014
Italian Cultural Centre, 3075 Slocan Street at Grandview Highway
IL CENTRO Italian Cultural Centre is proud to host and present Il MERCATO, the city’s first Farmer and Italian Night Market starting this Friday. This market is the first of its kind in Vancouver bringing together the tastes of Italy with the produce grown in local farms. We invite the community to come shop for a vibrant assortment of fresh fruit and vegetables, handmade products from local artisans and delicious food prepared by Il Centro’s chef. The Italian community market element allows you the opportunity to bring home a taste of Italy every month. Stay for live Italian music featuring the classic mandolin and accordion, and children’s activities provided by our Italian School teachers.
