First imPrestons - a VANEATS.ca dining package

VANEATS.ca has been offering great dining packages on their website and when Prestons came up we didn't hesitate to buy it. At $21 for three courses, it was even cheaper than when we went there for Dine Out Vancouver!

They rearranged some furniture since that last time we were here. Where we sat last time is a couch area and this time we were led to the upper dining area near the kitchen.

Grilled Calamari
We started off with Grilled Calamari (not part of the dining package). It was tasty and juicy, and I didn't feel guilty after eating it like I would deep fried calamari. XD Much to my disappointment, there were no tentacles present but that's ok.

Trio of Appetizers
First imPrestons started us off with a trio of appetizers: Pulled pork poutine, Chicken Karaage and Dungeness Crab cake.

Prestons Pulled Pork Poutine, crispy french fries, Quebec cheese curds, Rickards Red Gravy
The Pulled Pork Poutine was my favourite. All the melted cheese and gravy goodness!

Chicken Karaage, garlic sake marinated chicken, flash fried, served with spicy sambal lime aioli and miso cabbage slaw
Chicken Karaage was part of the Dine Out menu so I already knew it was good.

Dungeness Crab Cake, panko breaded, tomato dressing, micro herb salad, fried capers
The crab cake was the one I didn't really like. It had too much sauce dressing on the bottom and the crab cake was small so all I could taste was the dressing!

BC Halibut Wrapped in Double Smoked Bacon, served with creamed leeks, quinoa, honey shallot j'us
For the main, we get to choose from 1/2 Rack of Baby Back Ribs or Bacon Wrapped BC Halibut. I've tried the ribs from the Dine Out menu so I chose the halibut. It was amazing! It was smokey bacon heaven! *drools* I wish there was more of it! I even saved half of it for last so I could savour it. Ah. SO GOOD!

Maple and Double Smoked Bacon Creme Brulee
The dessert was a bacon creme brulee and it came in a cute tiny cup! The First imPrestons menu said Creme Brulee served with julienne slices of pickled granny smith apple but I guess they don't have any more apples so they were substituted by a sugar coated Timbit with caramel. Fine by me! I don't think I would have like pickled apples.

It was a great dinner once again at Prestons!

Visit VANEATS' website to purchase the First imPrestons dining package which is still available at $21 and lasts until April 29, as well as to check out their other delicious dining packages!
