Last Friday, I held my belated birthday dinner at Caché Bistro & Lounge at 1269 Hamilton Street in Yaletown. I had gone to the grand opening previously and was so impressed by the food, I decided to come back and bring my friends along!

Spinach and cream cheese stuffed Portobello cap $18
So here it is! The Portobello cap that I've been waiting for forever! It is soooo good. It comes with a spinach salad and french fries with home made ketchup! My friends and I shared this, I think we could have ordered another one because it was so good. It is cheesy and very rich so we decided to hold off until our mains came. The mushroom cap is actually a main but I think it is better shared and to get another main in addition.

Spinach and cream cheese stuffed Portobello cap $16
Grilled Vegetable Salad with Sauteed Prawns $11

Bacon wrapped semi de-boned quail stuffed with marinated dried cranberries $16

I had the quail for my main since I've never had quail before and I was feeling adventurous. It was pretty good! I like how the cranberries made it a little sweet and mmm the bacon.

Cache chicken cordon bleu stuffed with Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms $16
White truffle infused mushroom risotto
My friend, A, raved about the Mushroom risotto. She said it was the best she ever had. High praise from someone who has eaten a LOT of mushroom risottos. I'm intrigued now. I'm going to have to go back and try it!

Braised local baby back ribs with Asian barbecue glaze $18
Pan seared wild Coho salmon with lemon glaze $17

Steamed Mussels $15
How nice! A friend of a friend of my sister gave us some complementary mussels for my birthday! Despite being an appetizer, they came after our mains but we still had room for them! They were really good but alas were gone too fast. This would be another that I'd order again next time!

Now on to the dessert!

Most of us ordered the Dark chocolate mousse cake with mango lava $8 (above right) or the Matcha creme brûlée. Delicious.
Matcha creme brûlée $7
My friends and I had an amazing experience at Caché. The food was amazing, as was the service. Our waitress answered all our questions and when asked for recommendations, did not shy away like a lot of servers do. Everyone agreed that I picked an awesome restaurant. Caché is definitely worth the repeat visit.
