The first thing I did when I was planning my trip to San Francisco was looking up where to eat. I google mapped it. Hog Island Oyster Co. was one restaurant that showed up and it has some amazing reviews so I decided I must try it out.

Hog Island Oyster Co. is located in the 1 Ferry Building Marketplace on the Embarcadero in San Francisco.
You get some complementary bread with butter to start while looking over the menu.

You can either sit inside and watch the shuckers shuck oysters or outside to look out onto the water. There was nice weather so a lot of people choose to sit outside. It was still a little early so it wasn't too busy yet but it will get crazy busy at happy hour.

I ordered a Oyster bar mix, 6 oysters for 18 USD. They were out of two types of oysters so I had some doubles. Wish I had ordered more...I particularly like the Hog Island Sweetwater oyster. The oysters were very fresh, served with a lemon slice and a light sauce.

In addition to the oysters, I ordered a salad. I wanted the Hog Island special Gumbo but they ran out. Little Gem Salad - Alba strawberries, fuji apples, almonds and ricotta salad with Citrus vinaigrette. It was very fruity and quite delicious.

When I left, there was a huge lineup! The oyster bar is very popular during 5-7pm happy hour and for good reason. The oysters were delicious and very fresh. Definitely deserves a repeat visit.
