3rd Annual Burnaby Lake BioBlitz - Nighttime Activities
4:00pm - 9:00pm
Burnaby Lake Regional Park - 4519 Piper Avenue Burnaby
Join Scientists and Naturalists as they try and figure out what is living at Burnaby Lake Regional Park in 24 hours.  Help them out by learning about the biodiversity of this backyard park. Visit for just a little while, or explore for the entire event, there will be lots going on all the time.  Pond dipping, bug hunting and ID walks are just some of the great ways to try your hand at identification and learn just what it out there.

Trout Lake Farmers Market
9:00am - 2:00pm, every Saturday from May 12 - October 20 
North Parking Lot of John Hendry Park at Trout Lake Between Templeton and Lakewood south of the 13th Avenue Alley 
It's the first Trout Lake Farmers Market of the season! Buy produce from local farmers. Please note: There is no parking in the North Lot and no parking on 13th Avenue. Please park away from the area & walk in. Or better yet: walk, cycle or take transit if you can!

World Migratory Bird Day + Bird Walks
9:30 am Proclamation of World Migratory Bird Day in Vancouver at the Heron colony in Stanley Park, 2099 Beach Avenue 
10:00 am Bird Walks Around Town Bird experts will lead bird walks in five different Vancouver parks 
  • Stanley Park (leave Heron colony at 10:00; three walks, one in Punjabi)    
  • Everett Crowley Park (meet in Kerr Street parking lot at 9:45 am)     
  • The Sanctuary at Hastings Park (meet on the N.E. corner of Hastings and Renfrew at 9:45 am)     
  • Jericho Park (meet in east side parking lot at 9:45 am)     
  • Queen Elizabeth Park (meet in front of Bloedel Conservatory at 9:45 am; two walks, one in Mandarin)  
1:00 pm - 4:00 pm Open Bird House with exhibits and activities for all ages. Alice MacKay Room, Vancouver Public Library, 350 West Georgia Street
2:00 Feature Presentation: "Super-tweet-tastic"by Russell Cannings, the young Bird Biologist whose Big Birding Year in 2010 set a British Columbia record of sighting 373 different species of birds in one year.

A Growing Affair, which replaces the popular and long-running annual “Perennial Plant Sale”, is an updated event that includes plants for sale and also features fun, demonstrations for both new and experienced gardeners. The event is designed to inform and empower plant lovers of all ages to do more with their gardens, patios and balconies, large or small, and to engage children with a deeper appreciation for all things growing.
