Richmond Maritime Festival

Britannia Heritage Shipyard - 5180 Westwater Drive in Steveston
Join Richmond in exploring its maritime heritage with the 10th annual Richmond Maritime Festival, a three-day celebration of nautical and natural splendour taking place from August 9 to 11, 2013 at Britannia Heritage Shipyard in Richmond. Learn local lore and try your hand at a variety of arts and crafts. Enjoy food, music, artists, storytellers, dancers, drummers all weekend and a kick-off outdoor concert on Friday from 6:00 to 7:00 pm.

Our convention’s content is targeted towards people 16-30 years old, although most of our content is appropriate for all ages.

Great Steveston Rotary Duck Race

The very first Rubber Duck Race in Steveston Harbour! Tickets on Sale at Splash Toys, 3580 Moncton Street and Gulf and Fraser Financial, West Richmond Branch, 8900 No. 1 Road. Duck Adoption: $5.00 per duck - Net proceeds to local community organizations and charities.  Grand  Race starts 11:00am sharp   Prize - Vacation for 4 in Maui with accommodation at the Outrigger Palms at Wailea and return flight via WestJet.

TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival

This August, the Vancouver Chinatown BIA society will once again host the incredible TD Vancouver Chinatown Festival in the neighborhood (10th &11th August, 2013, at Columbia & Keefer Street).  Last year, about 60,000 festival goers converged on the streets of Columbia and Keefer in historic Chinatown to experience the biggest multicultural summer celebration in town. Festival activities included day market, "Historical & Food Tasting Walking tour", Kids corner, multicultural stage performances, Cultural Corner, TD Youth Talent Showdown, Young Star Challenge, theme related activities and Streetfest.  With this year's slogan "Discover Chinatown. Explore the World", we will have more elements and innovative new programs into the festival! See my photos from last year here.

Seventh Annual Vancouver Waterfight

HWKRS MRKT at East Van Studios  - $10

Hawkers Market is a monthly recurring underground evening food marketplace in Vancouver.  We support local vibrant food entrepreneurs and give them a place to conduct pop up food stalls (or hawker stands) to sell their food or products. They are chefs, artisans and dreamers and they know their food!  Expect a diverse selection of things to eat at the market and take home to try. The market acts as a dining, shopping and social experience.  Hawkers Market takes place from 7pm until late, along with the food, music, lights and mingling with people. Markets will take place Saturdays throughout the summer (with the exception of long weekends) from 4-7pm and feature products grown and produced locally, organically and sustainably. We’ll have fresh veggies, herbs, honey from the farm, eggs, goat cheese, home baked goodies and a selection of local treats!    Bring the family down and enjoy an early evening supporting local agriculture. There will be pony rides for the kids, goats and pot-bellied pigs to visit in the barn, as well as weekly events!

Food Cart Fest is a gathering of over 20 of Vancouver’s top Food Carts presented by Arrival and The Streetfood Vancouver Society. Join us every week this summer for food, fun, and sun complemented by community markets, live music and DJs, craft food vendors, kids activities, and more. Food Cart Fest launches on Sunday, June 23 and takes place every Sunday from 12pm-5pm until September 22. Admission is $2. Children 13 and under get in free. Max rate for families is $5. Chinatown Night Market

This summer, the Chinatown Night Market is bringing a heady mix of time-honoured tradition and new school flavour to the festivities on Keefer Street. Live music, storytelling, and Mahjong; new vendors, more food, and some other stuff that wasn’t here last year like outdoor classic movie screenings and epic ping pong tournaments.
