InDigital: Animate

The InDigital Conference is an open and sponsored opportunity for any youth interested in the tech-industry, to participate in a series of progressive and hands-on technology-centred workshops and panels facilitated by leading professionals. Through engagement in the InDigital Conference experiences, this unparalleled summer experience will help cultivate participants' discovery and interest in the ICT, creative, broadcasting and green-tech technology sectors, while at the same time, introducing youth to the educational and career options available within these tech-sectors. We will end the day with a community dinner where we will draw for exciting prizes, and then have fun mingling during an all ages Digital Arts Showcase.

Wooden Boat Festival

The Vancouver Wooden Boat Society produces the annual Vancouver Wooden Boat Festival which is held at Granville Island in Vancouver BC in August each year. The dates for the 2012 festival are August 23-26. Most events and activities run throughout the day but impromptu and unexpected maritime madness could occur anywhere at any time! • Beware the roving Buccaneers of the Black Fleet — maritime scalawags all!!! • floating exhibition of wooden boats of all kinds at the Granville Island public docks on the north and west sides of the Public Market. Cast your vote for the “People’s Choice Award” • visit the Ocean Artworks space and view the Vancouver Wooden Boat Society’s fleet and the Family Boatbuilders. Lots of exhibitors!

Steveston Dragon Boat Festival

Britannia Heritage Shipyard, at Westwater Drive and Railway Avenue, Richmond
The Steveston Dragon Boat Festival promises to be a great day of fun, entertainment and paddling. The event begins at 9am with dragon boat racing beginning and food, activities and vendor booths opening.  By 11am great entertainment on the main stage begins to celebrate a sizzling summer day.

Corn Festival at Kerrisdale Farm Market

East Boulevard between 37th and 41st Avenue - near Kerrisdale Arena
It's corn season and we think that's reason to celebrate! Come to the Kerrisdale Farmers Market for the corny-est display of delicious BC produce and everything corn!  We'll be featuring: BC Corn by the Truckload! Kids Activities at our Fun with Food tent Fresh-roasted corn Fresh Popped Kettle Corn Corn Recipes in addition to all our usual delicious market offerings!

West End Dog Show 2012

Be sure to arrive early to snag a goody bag for your doggie! This annual event helps build a stronger pet community in the Vancouver area by celebrating our deep love for our dogs, promoting responsible dog ownership, and by raising money for the pet-related charities.  This inclusive event will feature many fun activities for local dog owners & dog lovers to take part in. There will be lots of fun things to do at the West End Dog Show: meet local pet businesses, learn about holistic animal wellness services, get some free dog treats for your baby pooch, meet some rescued doggies for adoption – and much more! Richmond Raptor Festival

Get up close to some of the fabulous birds of prey that make Richmond their home. Experience breathtaking falconry displays by Pacific Northwest Raptors at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., explore interactive exhibits and activities and learn about birds, including owls and eagles, from local experts. Follow signs from Westminster Hwy. and No.1 Rd to Terra Nova Rural Park. This event is for all ages!
