A Fall Fair marked the end of the summer season of the Burnaby Village Museum on Labour Day last week. Yes, I know this post is a little late. Ok, a lot late. But better late than never, right?

It was like a mini farmers market on the museum grounds.

There were also shows like Cinemazoo,

Fraser Valley Fiddlers,

and the Amazing Mr. Yo Yo!

The museum itself is pretty cool, comprising of a village of old buildings, each having its own authentic artifacts and props, where you can learn how people lived in the 1920s. There's also people dressed in 1920s clothing manning different areas! I haven't been in the museum since I was in grade 3! I remember dressing up like pioneers!

Look how little things costs back then!

25 cents a movie...it's how much now? $12?

This store is a replica of one that used to exist in Victoria. It is one of the first Chinese medicine stores in BC.

She's working the alligator press to make bookmarks.

Here's where you buy real estate.

4 bedroom bungalow for only $1200!

Kingsway and Central Park, a lot for only $900, which now equals oh maybe $700,000.

A visit to the Burnaby Village Museum is not complete without a visit to the Carousel! This carousel was originally built in 1912 at Leavenworth Kansas by C.W. Parker. The horses are made of wood.

This Military Band Organ plays all the music for the Carousel by itself.

"Belle"
This horse was the one I rode on during my field trip in grade 3! She is still beautiful!

The Vancouver Train Gang had also set up a model train track in the room next to the carousel.

Kids were having fun driving trains around!

The Burnaby Village Museum is a great way to spend the day. You can walk around learning about the past at your leisure. And you're never too old to ride the Carousel! The museum has seasonal hours and I think it is closed right now but will open again for the Christmas season from November 24 - December 14, noon-4:30pm December 15 - January 4, 2013, noon-8:00pm (closed December 24 & 25). And for 2012, the Burnaby Village Museum & Carousel is celebrating their 100th birthday so to celebrate, the City of Burnaby invites all to enjoy free gate admission! Carousel rides are only $2.30 per ride for all ages.

Have you've been to the museum before?
